Full Travel Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Our driving guide will greet you warmly at Kigali International Airport and then inform you on your 8-day Rwanda safari itinerary. After, he will drive you to your accommodation in Kigali. Kigali Serena Hotel (luxury) and Elegance Motel (budget).

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park

Start your day with a nice cup of Rwanda tea or coffee, then meet your driver guide for a road excursion to Akagera National Park in Rwanda's eastern district. Arrive early enough and enjoy your lunch. In the afternoon, you will have an exhilarating boat tour down the gorgeous Lake Ihema, where you will see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds, as well as elephants and buffaloes roaming along the lake beaches. Akagera National Park offers three lodge options: Dereva Hotel (Budget), Akagera Game Lodge (Midrange), and Ruzizi Tented Lodge/Magashi Luxury Tented Camp. Travel duration: 2-3 hours. Day 3: Morning game drive and go to Volcanoes National Park

After a sumptuous breakfast, you will embark on a game drive across the northern part of Akagera National Park. It will take about 2 to 3 hours but will reward you with breathtaking views of various savanna residents like as elephants, leopards, lions, buffaloes, rhinos, antelopes, giraffes, and birds, to name a few. Later, you'll return for lunch before driving to Volcanoes National Park in northwest Rwanda. Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

You are expected to wake up early enough to prepare, drink your tea or coffee, and arrive at Kinigi Park Headquarters at 7:00 a.m. with your packed lunch and water for the briefing. You will be instructed by a park ranger or official and assigned to a gorilla family to hike. You will begin your trip at 8:00 a.m., which might last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the nature of the habitat, where these creatures reside, and the nature of the ecosystem. Once you're allocated a group, you have one hour to make your fantasy a reality Volcanoes National Park is home to habituated families like Susa, Kwitonda, Ugenda, Bwenge, Hirwa, Karisimbi, Umubano, Amahoro, Agashya, and Sabyinyo. After that, you will return to rest, and in the afternoon/evening, you will visit the Iby'Iwacu cultural center for cultural experiences. Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking at Volcanoes National Park

Following an early breakfast, you will reconvene at Kinigi for a training on golden monkey trekking guidelines or a hike to Dian Fossey's mausoleum at Karisoke Research Centre. Later, you will be transported southern to Nyungwe Forest National Park, which is home to approximately 13 different primate species. Nyungwe National Park offers accommodation alternatives include Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury), Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Moderate), and Gisakura Guesthouse (Basic).

Day 6: Nyungwe Forest Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk

Enjoy your breakfast and then meet at Cyangungu or Uwinka for a safety briefing on Chimpanzee Trekking. A chimp journey takes from 2 to 4 hours, and you only have one hour for the amazing encounter. However, it also provides trekkers with breathtaking views of other primates such as colobus monkeys, mangabeys, blue monkeys, and forest birds. Day 7: Drive back to Kigali City

After breakfast, take a woodland stroll to observe birds and primates. Nyungwe Forest is recognized as one of Rwanda's birding paradises, containing over 310 bird species. Expect to see birds such as the Great Blue Turaco, Paradise Flycatcher, Re-Throated Alethe, and Gigantic Forest Hornbill, among others. Day Eight: Kigali City Tour

The final day of our 8-day Rwanda Safari Tour will be spent touring Kigali. Among the amazing sites to visit while in Kigali are the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site, the Presidential Museum, visiting Artisan/Craft Centers, the Kigali Convention Center, having lunch at City Restaurant or Hotel des Mille Collines, also known as Hotel Rwanda from the film "Hotel Rwanda," and many more. The order in which various sites are visited depends on the start time and your hotel location.
