And Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a gorilla destination with the world’s greatest population of mountain gorillas, is the world’s best place to go mountain gorilla trekking. The most popular Kenya safari locations are Lake Nakuru National Park and Masai Mara National Reserve. Lake Nakuru National Park is known for its large population of rhinos and pink flamingos on its shores. Masai Mara National Reserve, another stop on this safari, is famous for its large population of wildlife, including the Big Five and the Great Annual Wildebeest Migration.

Full Travel Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe International Airport, Uganda
When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your local safari driver/guide and a Focus East Africa Tours representative. Your guide will give you a briefing before transferring you to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe for a peaceful evening, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After breakfast, your safari drive guide will pick you up and transfer you to Kibale Forest National Park, which is home to the largest population of chimps in East Africa as well as 12 other species of primates, making it an excellent destination for primate experiences. Along the trip, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the countryside. You will arrive in the park in the afternoon, just in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, you will go on an afternoon guided walk around the crater lakes area, where you will be treated to wonderful vistas. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trek and transportation to Bwindi
Wake up early for breakfast and then head to the park's headquarters for a briefing on the chimpanzee trekking adventure. You will be put through the rules and regulations to follow during the trip before heading into the Kibale forests to look for chimpanzees. During the journey, you'll see olive baboons, grey checked monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and a variety of birds.
When you find the chimps, you will be permitted to spend an hour observing their behavior, watching them play on tree branches, gathering fruits, and taking pictures. After one hour, you'll return to your lodge for lunch, check out, and go on Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the Ishasha section of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you can see tree climbing lions. Arrive in the park in the evening, check into your lodge, and stay the night.

Day 4: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Visit to the Batwa People
Wake up early for breakfast and transfer to the park's headquarters by 7:00 a.m. for a briefing on the gorilla trekking adventure, where a senior ranger will walk you through the rules and regulations to follow. You will be divided into groups of eight and then journey into the Bwindi forests in search of mountain gorillas. The trek takes roughly 2-6 hours depending on the gorillas' movement and where they spent the night before.
When you find the gorillas, you will be permitted to spend an hour observing their activity, watching the young ones play on tree limbs, watching the silverback play on tree branches, and taking incredible photos. After one hour, you will return to the park's headquarters and then proceed to the Batwa community for a cultural visit. While in the Batwa community, you will gain a better understanding of the Batwa people's way of life, participate in the preparation of local meals, build a fire, see a demonstration of hunting skills, and be entertained by local dances and drama. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 5: Bwindi to Entebbe and fly to Kenya
After breakfast, you will leave your lodge and return to Kampala, stopping for lunch at the Igongo Cultural Center in Mbarara Town and a photo session near the Equator before continuing to Entebbe International Airport for your departure to Nairobi, Kenya.
When you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, our guide will pick you up and transport you to your hotel in Nairobi for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, you will check out and journey to Lake Nakuru National Park, a birder's paradise, via a 4–5hour drive, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, you will proceed on a wildlife drive along the lake's beaches, where you will be able to see white rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, elands, waterbucks, zebras, and pink lesser and greater flamingoes, among other creatures. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 7: Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast, you will drive for Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya's most popular and rewarding wildlife destination. Along the journey, you will stop at Rift Valley for breathtaking views of the Rift Valley escarpments and Narok to mingle with the locals. After lunch at your lodge, you will travel to the park for an afternoon game drive in search of plentiful wildlife like as lions, leopards, and cape buffaloes, among others. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 8: Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, you will travel to the park for a full-day game drive in the morning and afternoon, complete with a picnic lunch. You will have enough time to explore the reserve and see abundant wildlife such as lions, wildebeests, Maasai giraffes, gazelles, elands, leopards, rhinos, cheetahs, and cape buffaloes, among others. Alternatively, you can spend an evening in the Masai Village, where you will engage with the natives, learn how women create local dishes, be entertained by indigenous dances and theater, and help herd cattle in the fields.

Day 9: Hot Air Balloon Experience and Transfer to Busia
On the ninth day of your 10-day Uganda and Kenya safari, wake up as early as 4:00 a.m. and head to the reserve for a hot air balloon adventure, which allows passengers to enjoy aerial views of the boundless plains of Masai Mara and animals. The trip will culminate with a champagne brunch, after which you will leave the reserve and go to Busia, stopping for lunch along the way. Arrive in Busia Town, located on the Uganda-Kenya border, and check in to spend the night.

Day 10: Busia to Kampala – Entebbe
After breakfast, you will check out and transfer to Kampala, with lunch en route. When you arrive in the evening, you will be dropped off at either the airport for your departure flight or at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
