Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Your birding adventure begins with your arrival in Tanzania. You will be greeted at the airport by your guide and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha, a bustling city located at the foothills of Mount Meru. After settling in, you can spend the afternoon birding in the lush gardens of your lodge, where you may spot a variety of colorful species including the African paradise flycatcher, variable sunbird, and white-eared barbet.

Day 2: Arusha National Park

After an early breakfast, you will head to Arusha National Park, a diverse and picturesque park that is home to an array of bird species. Here, you can expect to see the stunning Hartlaub's turaco, the beautiful Narina trogon, and the striking white-fronted bee-eater. Keep an eye out for the elusive Schalow's turaco and the African olive pigeon as you explore the park's montane forests and open grasslands.

Day 4: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

Your next destination is Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. The park is a birdwatcher's delight, with over 500 bird species recorded within its boundaries. Look out for the colorful Lilac-breasted roller, the impressive martial eagle, and the comical red-and-yellow barbet as you traverse the park's varied landscapes.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Natron

Today, you will journey to Lake Natron, a remote and otherworldly soda lake nestled at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment. The lake is a vital breeding ground for flamingos, and you will have the opportunity to witness thousands of these pink-hued birds congregating on its shores. Keep an eye out for the endemic Fischer's lovebird and the acrobatic grey-headed silverbill as you explore the surrounding acacia woodlands.

Day 5: Kilimanjaro National Park

No visit to Tanzania would be complete without a glimpse of Mount Kilimanjaro, and today you will have the chance to explore Kilimanjaro National Park. The montane forests that cloak the lower slopes of the mountain are home to a wealth of bird species, including the stunning cinnamon-chested bee-eater, the cryptic African hill babbler, and the elusive Abbot's starling. As you ascend higher into the moorland zone, keep an eye out for the regal mountain buzzard and the diminutive alpine chat.

After breakfast, you will bid farewell to Tanzania as you transfer back to the airport for your onward journey.
